TV Fantasy Dosage – The Legend Of The Seeker
Indeed, we have television programs referring to the unlikely.
What we don’t have are TV programs about high fantasy.
All of this is set to change with the beginning of Legend of the Seeker.
Centered sloppily on Terry Goodkind’s hit series of fantasy novels, the Sword of Truth, Legend of the Seeker tells the account of Richard Cypher – starred by Craig Horner – who is a young woodsman in a world parted into two chief locations. Richard is from the quiet and simple place called the Heartlands, which is protected by supernatural boundaries from the remaining of the world, named the Midlands.
One time, the boundaries were broken, and the Heartlands was attacked by all manners of evil, using power the likes of which the Heartlands has not in any chance witnessed before. These wicked forces are controlled by a tyrant who lords over the Midlands and who has put his eyes on the Heartlands, Darken Rahl – played by Craig Parker.
The violation also introduced the mysterious Kahlan – portrayed by Bridget Regan – a young female who possesses powerful magic. Richard meets Kahlan and the latter updates her of his destiny, that he is destined to be the famous hero called the Seeker who is deemed to be the savior of the world as it breaks.
Doubt and a quest for self-discovery follows well, finishing in the discovery of a well-known artifact, the Sword of Truth, and the nativity of the champion of this tale.
Certainly, the story may not appear original, provided the fact that the same ideas have been used in numerous fantasy volumes, video games and comic series in years past. But this is one of the few moments when a primetime t.V. Program will deal on such concepts and storylines, and such should enliven viewers everywhere in the world who have long hungered for dungeons and dragons and dastardly villains on their small screens.
